MILWAUKEE-The UWM men's soccer team captured two wins over the weekend at home, as they defeated Butler, 4-1, on Friday, and Akron, 2-1, on Sunday. The Panthers provided top-notch attack, collectively outshooting their opponents, 44-25.

UWM took the conference win against Butler in convincing fashion with goals scored by freshmen Kyle Lance (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) and Bobby Lish (Shoreview, Minn./Moundsview), and senior captain Scott Dombrowski (West Allis, Wis./Hale). Lish led the attack with two goals.

Down 1-0 at halftime against Akron on Sunday, senior Blake Bostwick (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington) led the Panthers' comeback with the game-winning goal and an assist on the first goal scored by junior forward Ryan Seymour (Portage, Wis./Northern).

BOSTWICK'S PLAY RECOGNIZED--Bostwick was named this week's Brine MCC Player of the Week for the weekend's performance. He dominated the midfield in both games, but tallied a goal and an assist in the come-back victory over Akron.

PANTHERS MOVE UP IN MCC STANDINGS--With Friday's MCC win over Butler and Green Bay's conference loss to Detroit, UWM moves up in the standings to a tie for third place in the MCC with state-rival Green Bay. The Panthers will play Green Bay on October 25th at Engelmann Field, before finishing the MCC regular season against Cleveland State on October 28th.

ATTACKING SECOND IN MCC STATS--The Panthers rank second in the following MCC statistical categories: shots (200, 12.5/game), assists (25, 1.56/game), goals (30, 1.88/game), and points (85, 5.31/game).

Seymour ranks third in shots (44), fourth in points (19), and fifth in goals (7). He and teammate Kyle Lance are tied for fourth in assists (5). Seymour's four assists recorded on September 3rd's game against Northwestern continue to be a MCC season record.

ON THE ROAD TO CALIFORNIA--UWM travels to Moraga for Saturday's game against Saint Mary's. The Panthers lead the series, 3-0, winning last season with a 1-0 score.

Saint Mary's is coming off a split over the past weekend, defeating Sacramento State, 1-0, on Friday, before losing in an incredible heartbreaker to Gonzaga on Sunday.

The Gaels were up 1-0 at halftime, before allowing two goals against them in the final four minutes of play to lose by a final 2-1 score. Eight yellow cards were issued in the match between the two teams, and two red cards were given to the Gaels with eight minutes remaining in the game. Gonzaga took advantage of Saint Mary's playing without two of their men, scoring a goal in the 86th minute and the game-winner with just seven seconds remaining in the match. Saint Mary's leading scorer, freshman Alex Monsalve (16 goals), will sit out the game against the Panthers due to his red card issuance in Sunday's match.
