Panthers split conference games:

After UWM's 3-0 loss against MCC rival UIC on Wednesday, the Panthers got a lift from sophomore forward Derek Kasten (Greendale, Wis./Whitnall) on Friday as he scored the winning goal in double overtime against Detroit. Kasten's goal came in the 107th minute to finish the game, 1-0. Last week's conference split gives UWM a 2-1 record in the MCC and a tie for third place.

Sunday's loss drops UWM to 7-5 on the season:

The Panthers finished the road trip with a disappointing loss as they were shut out, 5-0, against Western Michigan on Sunday in Kalamazoo. Though UWM outshot WMU 7-3 in the first half (17-15 overall), the Panthers fell apart as the Broncos scored four second-half goals.

Seymour tops the Panthers' attack:

Junior forward Ryan Seymour (Portage, Mich./Northern) leads UWM in scoring with 13 points (4 goals, 5 assists), followed by sophomore defender Chad Dombrowski (West Allis, Wis./Hale) with nine points (4 goals, 1 assist) and freshman midfielder Daniel Savedra (Milawukee, Wis./Tech) with seven points (3 goals, 1 assist).

Attacking the MCC stats:

* Seymour ranks second in the conference in assists (5), third in points (13), and fifth in shots (29). * UWM is second in the MCC in goals (20) and points (57). * UWM leads the conference with 96 corner kicks (8 avg./game)

UPCOMING WEEKEND GAMES

UWM continues their four-game stretch on the road with a match against intrastate rival UW-Madison on Friday night at the McClimon Soccer Complex. They then open a three-game home stance as they host a MCC match-up against Loyola on Sunday at noon. UWM has won the last two games against UW-Madison, including a 2-1 overtime victory last season. UWM leads the series, 10-8-1. UWM also defeated Loyola last season, 2-1, to take the series 8-1-1.

UW-Madison Badgers (6-3-1)

* Faced with three games in a five-day span last week, the Badgers came away with a win, a loss, and a tie to post the team's best start (6-3-1) since 1996. UW-Madison lost 3-2 against Northern Illinois on Wednesday before tieing No. 7 Marquette, 0-0, in double-overtime on Friday. The Badgers are coming off their 2-1 overtime victory against No. 23 Ohio State. * Junior goalkeeper Moriba Baker was named the Big Ten's Player of the Week after his performance on the weekend. Baker tallied five saves as he shutout Marquette on Friday, and recorded a career-best 13 saves in the Badgers' victory over OSU.

Loyola Ramblers (6-5)

* Loyola is coming off Friday's 2-0 conference victory over Butler. The Ramblers improved their record to 2-0 in conference play, putting them at the top of the MCC. * Sophomore forward Nico Tricoci leads Loyola in scoring with eight points (4 goals). * Senior goalkeeper and Elm Grove native Tim Caprez is ranked second in the MCC with four shutouts.
