Panthers Drop 3-2 Decision To Bradley In Spring GameApril 29, 2004 MILWAUKEE - In its first to last exhibition of the spring season the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Bradley University here Saturday (Apr. 24). The Panthers are now 6-2-1 on the spring season with one more game yet to play. "This is probably the most disorganized we have been all spring and it was truly our first sloppy game," UWM head coach Louis Bennett said. "That being said we did have some nice performances. Dale Weiler continues to play well and Ian Hoelker's goal was outstanding." For the first time this spring UWM struggled defensively, allowing the Braves to score on a pair of breakaways. Bradley took a 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to a defensive miscommunication and a breakaway goal. However UWM quickly evened the score when sophomore Dale Weiler's shot deflected into the goal to tie the game at one. Bradley scored on another breakaway goal in the second half to grab a 2-1 lead before another Milwaukee miscue led to the Braves third goal. UWM goalkeeper Kirk Thode collided with defender Billy Meier, which led to the Braves scoring an unconsested tap in for the eventual game-winner. UWM cut the lead to one later in the half when Ian Hoelker scored on an impressive 35-yard bomb. The Panthers continued to push forward the remainder of the game but could not net the game-tying marker.
The Panthers will finish their spring season on Friday (Apr. 30) with a contest versus the Milwaukee Wave United of the "A" League. Gametime is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex.
