Furtsch And Jallow Selected In MISL College DraftFeb. 22, 2005 MILWAUKEE - Two University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer players were selected in the 2005 Major Indoor Soccer League College Draft as seniors Antou Jallow and Trent Furtsch were selected in the second round by local teams. Jallow was drafted by the Chicago Storm as the second pick in the second round while Trent Furtsch was selected by the Milwaukee Wave with the last pick of round two. "The reality of soccer in the United States is such that there are a variety of ways to have a professional career," UWM head coach Louis Bennett said. "I played seven years of indoor soccer myself so its nice that Trent and Antou will have the chance to extend their careers as well." Jallow, who was also drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS, finished his four-year career this past November after leading UWM to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season and to four straight NCAA Tournaments overall. The Uppsala, Sweden native was named the Horizon League Tournament Player of the Year in both 2002 and 2004 and earned first-team all-league honors three straight campaigns. The senior striker ended his four-year career as UWM's and the Horizon League's all-time leading goal scorer with 60 goals after tallying a league-best 18 this season. Jallow also ended his career with 133 career points, good for second all-time in school history. Furtsch, who has been vastly underrated his entire career, finally earned some recognition this past season when he was named to the All-Horizon League Second-Team squad. A creative and skillful defender, the leftfooter served as a solid marking back and an offensive force for UWM. The Shorewood native appeared in 67 games during his career with 65 starts. Furtsch scored 20 career points on three goals and 14 assists. The senior scored seven points this season while helping UWM to the second round of the NCAA Tournamentn for the second consecutive season. "I think it is huge that Trent has finally been recognized as one of the best players in the country," Bennett added. "It is something we have known all along but its nice that other people are starting to realize this as well." UWM finished the 2004 season 14-5-3 after dropping a heartbreaking 2-1 OT contest to UC-Santa Barbara in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
