MILWAUKEE--High school senior Mark Krstich (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) has announced his intent to enroll at UWM and play soccer for Panthers' coach Louis Bennett. Krstich is the latest to join the 2001 men's soccer squad, with Trent Furtsch, Demetrius Banks, Chris Brisson, Antou Jallow, and Ian Hoelker. Krstich, a 5-9 forward, received first-team all-conference honors his junior and senior year, and captained the 2000 team. He holds his school's record for most goals, most assists, and most points in a season. He plays club soccer for the St. Paul Blackhawks and F.C. Internationals. With the Blackhawks, Krstich was a part of the 1998 state championship team and lead them is scoring in 1999 and 2000. The Hudson senior recently left to train for three months in Macedonia, looking to gain more soccer experience. "He's quick and adds strength to our forward line," said Bennett. "He's scored goals in both the youth league and in the men's league. He's even willing to leave the country for three months to train, showing a commitment to his game and in getting better."
