Spielmann Resigns From Men's Soccer Coaching Post

Leaving for position with Elm Grove Soccer Club

Feb. 11, 2008

MILWAUKEE - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer associate coach Bob Spielmann has resigned to become the director of coaching for the Elm Grove Soccer Club.

The announcement was made today by UWM head coach Jon Coleman.

"I am glad I had an opportunity to work with Coach Spielmann," Coleman said. "He is a great coach and has great knowledge and passion for the game. I appreciate all the work he did for the program and I wish him all the best. He has received a great opportunity to be a director of coaching with one of the premiere clubs in Wisconsin. It is a good position and he will do very well."

Spielmann was hired at Milwaukee in March of 2006 and spent the past two seasons as the associate coach for the Panthers. He came to UWM from Marquette High School in Milwaukee, where he spent 27 seasons as head coach. He turned Marquette into the state's premier high school soccer program, compiling a 532-73-40 career record while claiming 20 Division 1 State Championships.

"First of all, I would like to thank Jon Coleman and Chris Dadaian," Spielmann said. "It has been a real pleasure to work with them for the past two seasons. I would also like to thank the administration and staff here at UWM for welcoming me into the Panther family. It has been a great two years but I have the opportunity to become the director of coaching for the Elm Grove Soccer Club and I am looking forward to that new opportunity."

According to its website, the Elm Grove Soccer Club (EGSC) is a volunteer organization dedicated to youth soccer that encourages good sportsmanship, physical fitness, team play, a positive self-image, and the enjoyment of the game.

The EGSC is based in the Village of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and serves nearly 1,000 children in eastern Waukesha County. Although the majority of players reside in Elm Grove, players involved in the club also come from Brookfield, New Berlin, Wauwatosa, Menomonee Falls and other surrounding communities.
