Jan. 27, 2005

MILWAUKEE - A pair of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer players were honored for their athletic and academic achievements as Antou Jallow and Neil Dombrowski were named to the Academic All-Horizon League Team this week. The academic all-league teams are selected by Horizon League Sports Informatin Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives. Nominees must boast a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or better, have completed three semesters at the same institution and be a starter or significant contributor in the sport.

Jallow, a senior, boasts a 3.81 grade point average in Marketing. The academic honor is the third for Jallow as he earned Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA and the NSCAA earlier this season.

The Uppsala, Sweden native finished with 18 goals and 41 points on the season to break the school and Horizon League records for career goals, standards he now holds with 60 scores. The Horizon League Player of the Year in both 2002 and 2004, Jallow also owns UWM's single-season goal record with 24 in 2002 while sitting second on the school's all-time points scored list with 133.

The academic honor was the first for Dombrowski who owns a 3.592 GPA in Marketing at UWM. The junior midfielder has been a starter all three seasons at Milwaukee and has played on three consecutive NCAA Tournament teams. This past season Dombrowski finished third on the team with 11 points thanks to two goals and seven assists.

Dombrowski will headline a team next season that will look to make its fifth consecutive NCAA appearance. UWM finished the 2004 season 14-5-3 after dropping a heartbreaking 2-1 OT contest to UC-Santa Barbara in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
