Jeter In Colorado Springs As Preparations Begin For World University Games

6/18/2009 - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball coach Rob Jeter is now in Colorado Springs as preparations begin for the 2009 World University Games. Jeter is an assistant coach for Team USA. He, along with team head coach Bo Ryan, fellow assistant coach Frank Haith and 16 collegiate stars, gathered earlier this week for the start of tryouts and training camp. Twelve players will be selected by the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Committee to represent the USA in the games, scheduled for July 2-11 in Belgrade, Serbia. Jeter Named Assistant Coach For USA Basketball World University Games Team

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee head men's basketball coach Rob Jeter has been named an assistant coach for the 2009 USA Basketball World University Games team, USA Basketball announced today. Jeter will be an assistant alongside Miami's Frank Haith under Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan, who will direct the squad at the 24th World University Games, July 2-12 in Belgrade, Serbia. Coaching staff selections were made by the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team Committee, chaired by Syracuse University head coach Jim Boeheim. Jeter will return to a familiar spot on the staff, having worked under Ryan at UW-Platteville, UWM and Wisconsin before taking over as head coach of the Panthers in 2005. Read Full Release

Panthers Sign Milwaukee's Tyler To Letter Of Intent

Michael Tyler of Milwaukee, Wis., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men's basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, head coach Rob Jeter announced today. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound forward starred at Pratt Community College in Kansas this past season, ranking sixth nationally in rebounding while posting 22 double-doubles. Tyler wound up earning First-Team All-Jayhawk West and First-Team All-Region VI honors after leading Pratt to an 18-13 mark. Tyler averaged 17.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, with both totals leading his Pratt team. The rebounding total also led the Jayhawk West and his 358 total rebounds ranked sixth in the nation. Meanwhile, his points-per-game average was tied for eighth-best in Region VI, which includes the 19 teams in the Jayhawk East and Jayhawk West. He is the third signee for the Panthers this season, joining high school seniors Lonnie Boga and J'Rob McCallum, who both signed letters of intent last fall. Read Full Release
