Seventeen TV Dates Set For Panther Men, Women
Nov. 10, 2009
MILWAUKEE - Time Warner Cable Sports 32 will again be the home for University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's basketball during the 2009-10 season. The men's package debuts Dec. 3 with a home game against UIC, while the women's package starts Nov. 19 when the Panthers host Wisconsin. At this point, 17 television dates have been set, with 12 men's games and five women's games confirmed. Ten of the men's broadcasts and four of the women's games will air on Sports 32. In addition to the games on Sports 32, both the Panther men and women will have at least one appearance on ESPNU. The men's game at Youngstown State Jan. 22 will tipoff at 6 p.m. on ESPNU, while the women's contest at Green Bay Feb. 12 starts at 5 p.m. on the network. Plus, the UWM men's game at Wisconsin Dec. 23 will begin at 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. Coverage of at least three additional men's games - Jan. 2 at Butler, Jan. 9 vs. Green Bay and Feb. 25 at Loyola - has not yet been finalized. UWM could also play on ESPN2 Feb. 6 at Green Bay, a date reserved for a Horizon League broadcast to be announced. And, the ESPN family of networks will again cover 11 games in the BracketBusters event, as well as the semifinals and finals of the NIT Season Tipoff and games in the Speedway Horizon League Tournament. Sports 32 is also again the home for "The Rob Jeter Show" and "The Sandy Botham Show." Those shows each debut this week, with the Jeter show first airing Wednesday at 5 p.m. and the Botham show airing Thursday at 5 p.m. The shows return for two tapings in December and then air weekly beginning the week of Jan. 11. Daron Sutton returns as the television play-by-play voice for the Panther men. Sutton has spent the past three summers as the television voice of the Arizona Diamondbacks after five seasons as the TV voice of the Milwaukee Brewers. This season, Sutton will be joined by former Panther standout Adrian Tigert, who played on UWM's Sweet 16 team in 2005 and on the squad that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2006.
Meanwhile, Bob Brainerd and former Panther star Maria Viall return as the women's broadcast team. Brainerd currently does extensive work on Sports 32 while also serving as the public address announcer for men's games. Viall scored over 1,800 points in her UWM career and was a two-time Horizon League Player of the Year honoree. The Sports 32 crew also includes Bill Johnson, who returns as host of the "The Rob Jeter Show," and Scott Warras, who is back as host of "The Sandy Botham Show."
