MILWAUKEE - The first annual Bruce Pearl Panther Basketball Golf Classic tees off Monday morning at The Bog in Saukville.

Golfers will receive lunch, 18 holes of golf, a post-round reception, and great prizes. The event benefits Panther men's basketball.

Registration for the event begins at 11 a.m., followed by a lunch buffet and practice at the driving range and putting green. A shotgun start for the scramble event is set for 1 p.m., with the reception and fund-raising auction set for 6 p.m.

Golf classic committee members include former Iowa basketball coach Dr. Tom Davis and former Milwaukee Buck Brad Lohaus. Both are scheduled to golf, as are a number of other local media and sports celebrities. Other Panther coaches, staff members, and players are also scheduled to be in attendance.

Pearl was named head coach at UWM April 11 after leading Southern Indiana to 231 wins in nine seasons, including the NCAA Division II National Championship in 1995.

A very limited number of walk-up spots will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis at The Bog on Monday morning.
