Joah Tucker Gets Summer Chance With NBA Champion HeatJuly 6, 2006 MILWAUKEE - Former University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee standout Joah Tucker has become the second Panther to earn a chance with an NBA team during the upcoming summer league seasons. Tucker has been invited into summer league camp with the defending NBA champion Miami Heat, the team announced today. Tucker was one of 19 players invited into camp by the Heat, who are placing a team in the Pepsi Pro Summer League in Orlando next week. This past season in Milwaukee, Tucker earned First-Team All-Horizon League honors for the second year in a row, leading the Panthers in scoring while reaching double figures in 29 of his 31 games. For his career, the Milwaukee native started 94-straight games, finishing eighth on the school's all-time scoring list (1,416) and sixth on the school's Division I rebounding list (513). Tucker was also the 2005 Horizon League Tournament Most Valuable Player before averaging 25.3 points per game in three NCAA contests, leading UWM into the Sweet 16. He followed that up this post-season by earning League All-Tournament honors before scoring 24 points in an NCAA Tournament First Round win over Oklahoma. Among other players invited by the Heat are Kevin Pittsnogle of West Virginia and Torin Francis of Notre Dame. The Heat's first summer league game is July 10. The team is expected to trim its roster prior to the start of play next week. On Wednesday, the Cleveland Cavaliers announced former Panther Clay Tucker would be on their summer league roster.
