Ken Johnson Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach At UWM
May 7, 2001 MILWAUKEE - Former University of Southern Indiana assistant coach Ken Johnson has been named an assistant men's basketball coach at UWM, head coach Bruce Pearl announced today. Johnson spent the last two seasons working as an assistant for Pearl at USI. At USI, Johnson was responsible for video breakdown, scouting of opposing teams and individual player development. Johnson came to USI from the Idaho Stampede of the Continental Basketball Association, where he was an assistant coach. Johnson is also the founder, director, and instructor of Hoopin' It Up One on One Training Camp, working with basketball players of all ages. As a player, Johnson played basketball for two seasons at Albertson College of Idaho, where he also received a bachelor's degree in physical education. An NAIA District II All-Conference performer, he was a member of the ACI team which was the NAIA's District II Champion and played for the NAIA national championship in 1991.
"Surrounding yourself with quality people like Ken Johnson is the key to success in any profession," Pearl said. "His experiences on my staff at Southern Indiana and assisting at the professional level make him a valuable teacher and an outstanding role model for our players."
