Page Opens Play In Portsmouth Invitational Tonight
April 8, 2004 MILWAUKEE - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee senior Dylan Page plays his first game at the Portsmouth Invitational tonight. Page is one of 64 seniors nationwide invited to the annual pre-NBA draft event in Virginia. Page is playing on the Norfolk Naval Shipyard team alongside collegiate standouts like Tony Bobbitt of Cincinnati, Desmond Farmer of USC and Erik Daniels of Kentucky. His team will play this evening at 7 p.m. EDT against Sales Systems LTD. Win or lose, his squad will play again Friday with consolation and championship games set for Saturday. Page, the Horizon League Player of the Year and an honorable mention Associated Press All-American, led the Panthers and the Horizon League in scoring this season while leading UWM to the regular season Horizon League title and its second-straight post-season appearance. Page ranked in the top 10 in the Horizon League in seven different statistical categories while winning Mid-Major All-American honors from CollegeInsider.com and all-region honors from both the United States Basketball Writers Association and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. He led the Panthers in scoring 23 times this past season while scoring 20 or more points 20 times. During his career at UWM, Page led the Panthers to a pair of Horizon League titles, an NCAA Tournament berth in 2003 and an NIT berth and the school's first Division I post-season win in 2004.
This is the second-straight year UWM has had a player invited to the Portsmouth Invitational. Last year Clay Tucker played at Portsmouth and spent this past season playing for the Sundsvall Dragons in Sweden.
