Loyola Advances To Face UWM Women; UIC, Detroit, Loyola All Advance To Milwaukee On Men's SideFeb. 28, 2006 MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team now knows it will face Loyola in a Horizon League Tournament quarterfinal game Thursday night at the Klotsche Center. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Loyola, Detroit and UIC all won first-round home games to advance to this weekend's action at the U.S. Cellular Arena. The Ramblers, seeded eighth in the women's field, beat Cleveland State, 85-82, in overtime today in Chicago. UWM will now host Loyola in a 7 p.m. contest Thursday. If the Panthers win and Youngstown State falls to UW-Green Bay in another quarterfinal, Milwaukee will then host the semifinals and finals of the league tournament. In men's action, all three higher-seeded home teams won their first-round games. Fourth-seeded Loyola downed ninth-seeded Youngstown State, 76-61; fifth-seeded Detroit rolled past eighth-seeded Cleveland State, 92-58; and sixth-seeded UIC beat seventh-seeded Wright State, 77-64. This means UIC will take on third-seeded UW-Green Bay Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Milwaukee, with the winner facing Butler at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Loyola and Detroit will then square off at 7 p.m. Friday at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, with the winner advancing to a Saturday semifinal against UWM.
