MILWAUKEE - UWM sophomore Clay Tucker has been named to the All-MCC Second Team, while freshman James Wright has been named to the All-MCC Newcomer Team, the league announced today.

The honors, as well as those for MCC Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Newcomer of the Year, are voted on by MCC head men's basketball coaches, sports information directors, and media members.

Tucker led UWM in scoring during the regular season with 13.8 ppg. He was the Panthers' leading scorer 11 times, and scored more than 20 points seven times. For the year, Tucker shot just under 40 percent from three-point range, and also pitched-in with 4.4 rebounds per game, 33 steals, and 23 blocks.

Wright led UWM in rebounding during the regular season with 6.3 rpg. He recorded a pair of double-doubles, scoring 18 points and grabbing 15 rebounds against UIC Jan. 11, then scoring 16 points and adding 15 rebounds against Cleveland State Feb. 22. Wright also averaged 6.9 ppg, and recorded 30 blocks during the season.

Rashad Phillips of Detroit was named the league's player of the year for the second straight year, while Butler's Thad Matta was named the MCC Coach of the Year. Jesse Deister, a junior college transfer at Wright State, was named the MCC Newcomer of the Year.

The Panthers return to action Saturday, facing Wright State in the quarterfinals of the MCC Tournament. Tipoff in Dayton is set for 11 a.m. CST, and the game can be seen in Milwaukee on CBS-58.
