The UWM men's basketball team will hold the number three seed in the upcoming Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship, presented by Mountain Dew. The tournament starts this Friday and runs through Tuesday, March 5 at the CSU Convocation Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Panthers (16-12, 11-5) finished tied with Detroit for second place in the Horizon League but hold the number three seed due to league tiebreakers. UWM will open the tournament Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. CST against UIC.

UWM split with the Flames during the regular season, winning by 26 points at the Klotsche Center and losing at the buzzer at the UIC Pavilion.

With a win, UWM would play in a 6:30 p.m. CST semifinal contest against the winner of a game between Detroit and Cleveland State. The championship game is Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. CST.

UWM is 2-6 all-time in the league tournament and has never advanced to the championship game. This season, UWM won a school-record 11 games and won 16 games overall, the most since the 1992-93 season.
