Milwaukee 75, Loyola Marymount 51
Nov. 14, 2008
- UWM's 14 made three-pointers are the most by the Panthers since they made 14 at Detroit in January of 2007. The most recent performance of more than 14 threes made came in December 2001 at Colorado, when the Panthers hit 17. - Milwaukee's starting lineup included a true freshman (Meier), two sophomores (Deonte Roberts and Anthony Hill), a junior-college transfer (Tone Boyle) and senior Ricky Franklin. Franklin, of course, can still earn another year of eligibility meaning the Panthers could return their entire opening-day starting five next season. - Tony Meier is the first true freshman to record a double-double in his first appearance as a Panther in UWM's Division I history. Adrian Tigert had a double-double in his fifth game as a true freshman in 2001-02. - Deion James equaled his UWM collegiate high by making four 3-pointers. - UWM had two players come off the bench and reach double figures in points. That didn't happen for the Panthers last season, though it happened three times during the 2006-07 campaign. - Rob Jeter is now 3-1 in season openers as UWM's head coach and the Panthers have won eight of their last 11 season openers. - The 24-point win is the biggest by the Panthers over a Division I opponent since they beat Cleveland State by 29 in February of 2006.
- Loyola Marymount shot just 31.5 percent from the field. That would have been the second-lowest opponent field goal percentage last season. - Meanwhile, UWM shot 45.6 percent from the field. The Panthers shot better than 45 percent from the field just four times last season. |
