DETROIT - Terrell Riggs scored 28 points to lead Detroit to a 78-61 win over Wright State in the first round of the Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship Tuesday night at Calihan Hall.

The Titans (16-11), seeded fifth in the championship, advance to a second- round contest Friday night at 5 p.m. CST at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee.

Horizon League Player of the Year Willie Green added 20 points for the Titans, who built a 10-point halftime edge and never let Wright State seriously threaten in the second half.

Seth Doliboa and Vernard Hollins scored 25 points apiece for the Raiders (10- 17), who were seeded eighth in the championship.

Detroit won the game thanks to large edges in field goal shooting and rebounding. The Titans shot 53.2 percent from the field compared to just 42.9 percent for Wright State, while Detroit outrebounded the Raiders, 36-22.
