Panthers Prevail In Closing Seconds At UW-Green Bay, 74-73

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Paige Paulsens layup with 1.2 seconds left capped a 7-0 game-ending run as Wisconsin-Milwaukee rallied for a 74-73 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay Saturday night.

The game-winning basket was Paulsens only field goal of the second half as he finished with 12 points.

Ricky Franklin scored 17 points and Avery Smith had 16 points and five assists, including the pass to Paulsen on the final play for the Panthers (8-22, 6-10 Horizon League).

Mike Schachtner scored 23 points and Aswan Minatee added a career-high-tying 20 for Green Bay, but the Phoenix (16-14, 7-9) squandered a six-point lead over the final 1:51. The Phoenix hadnt trailed since the 17:48 mark of the second half until the last basket.

Schachtner scored Green Bays first six points and had 17 at the half. But he had just two field goal attempts in the second, making both.

Minatee scored 11 straight Green Bay points on 5-of-5 shooting to start the second half, as the Phoenix made its first seven field goal attempts after the break.

Milwaukee, the second-worst 3-point shooting team in the Horizon League, made 11-of-21 3-pointers on the night.

Allan Hanson added 11 points for the Panthers, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

Ryan Evanochko added 18 points and five assists for Green Bay, but he turned the ball over six times and it was his turnover that set up the Panthers final possession.

The Phoenix lost despite shooting 59.2 percent from the field, including a 15-of-20 performance in the second half.
