CHICAGO - Illinois-Chicago outscored UWM 15-9 in the fourth overtime period to claim a 112-106 victory Thursday night at the UIC Pavilion.

Four Panthers fouled out of the contest, while three Panthers recorded career-highs in scoring. Jason Frederick led the Panthers with 27 points, while Dan Weisse and James Wright added 18 apiece.

The game was the first four-overtime contest for either school in their Division I histories.

UWM led just once in the final overtime session, claiming a 100-99 advantage on a Frederick three with 4:10 remaining. But from there the Flames (7-8, 1-1 MCC) led by as many as seven in finally claiming the win.

UWM (8-7, 0-2) built a three-point edge late in the third overtime, but UIC fought back, tying the game on two Joel Bullock free throws with 8.2 seconds remaining. The Panthers were unable to get a shot off in the closing seconds.

The game entered the second overtime after J.P. Mitchom converted 1-of-2 free throws with 3.4 seconds remaining. Mitchom's free throws came after Frederick had given UWM a 78-77 advantage on a three-point basket with 7.6 seconds remaining.

Weisse originally sent the game to overtime for UWM, draining a three-point basket from the right wing with just under two seconds remaining. Weisse's shot came following a missed three by Clay Tucker and an offensive rebound by Mike Sowder.

In the closing minutes of regulation, UIC scored six straight points after a Sowder free throw tied the game at 63-63 with 4:00 left. UWM cut the lead to 69-66 on a Frederick three before Weisse sent the game to overtime.

UWM built a 47-38 lead with 15:17 to play in the game following five straight points from Ronnie Jones. But UIC, sparked by a disputed intentional foul call on Mike Sowder, scored 11 straight points to grab their first lead of the night at 49-47.

The Panthers led by as many as six in the first half, but could never pull away. UIC finally tied the contest at 28-28 on a Bullock three-point basket with 1:48 to play in the first. But, UWM bolted back in front with a Frederick three and a Wright follow-up basket with 4.9 seconds to play in the half.

UWM returns to action Sunday afternoon, traveling back to Chicago for a 3 p.m. with Loyola.
