UWM Baseball Team Announces 2009 Camp Schedule

Panthers will offer camps in January and March

Nov. 7, 2008

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team has announced the dates and times for its 2009 Milwaukee Baseball Camps. The annual camps take place in early January and again in late March, giving players from ages seven through high school seniors the chance to learn the fundamentals of the game from Panther coaches and players.

"We are once again excited to offer a variety of baseball camps to the local area," UWM head coach Scott Doffek said. "We will be holding pitching and catching camps as well as a hitting and position player camp for high-school aged players."

The first camp takes place January 2nd and 3rd, with two sessions. The first session will run from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. and will be for pitchers and catchers. The second session will run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and will be for position players.

The January camp is open to players ages 13 through high school seniors and will be held at the Klotsche Center. The cost for each session is $115. Players who sign up for both sessions will also be provided lunch.

The team will also hold spring camps March 21st and 22nd, 2009. The camp on the 21st is for players age 13 through high school seniors and will again feature two sessions, with the first for pitchers and catchers running from 9 a.m. until noon. Session two is for hitters and will go from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The price for the March camp is $65 per session and will again be held at the Klotsche Center. Players who sign up for both sessions will also be provided lunch.

Returning for its second season will be a camp for younger players, held March 22nd from 9 a.m. until noon at the Klotsche Center. Players ages 7 through 12 only can sign up, with a cost of $65.

Milwaukee has added another new feature this season to its camp portfolio, as the team is offering an Infielders Camp as well on March 22nd. The camp is for players ages 13 through high school seniors and will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at a cost of $65. It is designed for players looking to learn the fundamentals of quality infield play.

"This year we will again offer a youth camp for the younger ballplayer," Doffek said. "I know what it is like growing up in Wisconsin and having to deal with inclement weather. All of the camps offered are great ways to offset the cold climate and pick up some great instruction in a fun atmosphere. We are also looking forward to offering the infielders camp this spring."
