Panthers Await NCAA Pairings
May 27, 2002 MILWAUKEE - The UWM baseball team will find out its NCAA Tournament regional bracket this morning when the 64-team field is unveiled live on ESPN2. Players, coaches, fans and media will gather at Hooligan's Super Bar on North Avenue in Milwaukee to view the show live. The Panthers (36-18) will be making their second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and their third appearance in the last four years after winning the Horizon League Tournament at Jacobs Field in Cleveland over the weekend. UWM went undefeated in four games and beat UIC in its final two tournament games, including a 6-3 win over the Flames in the title game Sunday. Junior Dave Pudlosky was named the tournament's most valuable player after hitting a tournament-record .714 in the four games. Geoff Lefeber, who won two games in the tournament, including the championship win over UIC, was named to the all-tournament team along with Pudlosky, John Vanden Berg, Quintin Oldenburg and Charlie Reschke.
NCAA Tournament play will begin Friday at 16 yet-to-be-named regional sites across the nation. The four-team regionals are all double elimination.
