MILWAUKEE - Junior pitcher Geoff Lefeber has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced today.

Lefeber picked up two more wins in two starts this week as he continued his dominating efforts on the mound for the Panthers. Lefeber pitched the best game of his brief Panther career Saturday afternoon, tossing a two-hit complete game in a 6-0 UWM win over Youngstown State. The win helped the Panthers overcome a difficult loss in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader and kept UWM in first place in the Horizon League. Lefeber did not walk a batter and allowed only one batter as far as second base in tossing his first complete game of the season.

Earlier in the week, Lefeber allowed just two runs and two hits in five innings of work in gaining the win against Big 10 foe Iowa. Lefeber is now 4-0 with a 1.98 ERA on the season, including a 1.04 ERA in league contests.

UWM (29-15) hosts Chicago State in a doubleheader Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m. before opening a four-game series with second-place UIC to close out the regular season. The Panthers will need to win three of four games against the Flames to clinch the Horizon League regular season title.
