MILWAUKEE - Matt Curran (Homewood, Ill.) has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the Panther coaching staff announced today.

Curran, a left-handed hitting second baseman, was an honorable mention all-conference performer a season ago and is expected to be named a first-team all-conference and all-area performer this season. He has helped Homewood-Floosmoor High School to the number five ranking the state entering the final month of the season.

"Matt has the potential to put up power numbers at the second base position," associate head coach Todd Frohwirth said.

Curran, who is hitting .402 this season, has also been a standout off the field, posting a 3.5 grade point average and ranking in the top 20 percent of his high school class.

The Panthers are currently 26-14 overall, and 10-2 in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, two games ahead of second place Wright State.
