MILWAUKEE - Jeremy Leibfried has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the Panther coaching staff announced today.

Leibfried, a right-handed pitcher at Potosi High School, was the Six Rivers Conference Most Valuable Player following his junior season, and was also an honorable mention All-State performer.

"I'm really excited about working with him," assistant head coach and pitching coach Todd Frohwirth said. "I think he has a high ceiling athletically, and most importantly, he's a fine young man."

Leibfried has been a starting pitcher on the varsity team at Potosi since he was a freshman. He was a first-team all-conference performer following his sophomore season, and was an all-conference, all-district and all-area performer following his junior season. He has also been named the team MVP as a sophomore and junior.

The Panthers are currently 22-11 overall, and a perfect 8-0 in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference. UWM is riding an eight-game winning streak entering this weekend's four-game series with Illinois-Chicago.
