Snow in Illinois postpones Friday game

March 20, 2008

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team will not play its Horizon League opener Friday against UIC as planned. Due to the forecasted snow in the Chicago area, the game has been postponed.

Due to a winter storm warning that has now been issued for the Chicagoland area, UWM head coach Scott Doffek has announced today that the two teams will attempt to begin the series on Saturday, weather-permitting. A doubleheader is temporarily scheduled for Saturday beginning at 12:05 p.m., but the threat of inclement weather has also put Saturday's start time up in the air.

There will be either a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday, or a single game will be played on Saturday and a twinbill will be attempted on Sunday. Start times are yet to be determined.

The weather forecast for Chicago on Friday calls for a high of 33 degrees and a 90 percent chance for snow. Saturday's forecast calls for a high of 35 degrees with a 40 percent chance for morning snow showers.

Check back on the UWM website for further updates.
