Dayton, Ohio - The UWM baseball team allowed nine unearned runs as the Panthers lost to Butler, 12-6, in the second round of the MCC Baseball Tournament on Friday.

UWM (29-23) faces the loser of the Cleveland State-UIC game on Saturday morning. If the Panthers win, they will play again on Saturday night and again once on Sunday to win the MCC title.

Andy Neary (8-4) took the loss, even though he allowed one earned run and struck out eight batters through four and two-third innings. He allowed 10 runs and nine hits and was the victim of five Panther errors in the first five innings.

UWM built a 2-0 lead in the third inning on RBIs by Darin Haugom and Scott Gillitzer, but the Bulldogs scored three unearned runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. UWM's Brett Huebner hit a solo home run in the bottom half of the fourth to tie the score, 3-3.

But the Bulldogs broke the game wide open with seven unearned runs on seven hits and two costly errors in the fifth inning.

Huebner finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI in the game.
