Panther Baseball takes 3 of 4 at Wright State
April 26, 1999 MILWAUKEE - The UWM baseball team took three of four games against MCC foe Wright State as the Panthers moved into first place in league standings over the weekend. UWM had a number of stars in the four-game series with the Raiders: Steve Tylke (Greenfield, Wis.-Greenfield) batted .522 in the four games, including a 5-for-5 performance at the plate in game four; Todd Ludwig (Franklin, Wis.-Thomas More) had his third multi-home run game of the season and set a new school record with 13 homers in a season; Chad Sadowski (Cudahy, Wis.-Cudahy) pitched a two-hit shutout against Wright State, and Andy Neary (Oconomowoc, Wis.-Oconomowoc) gave up only two runs in a nine-inning, eight strikeout, no walk performance against the Raiders. In the March 23 series opener at Wright State, UWM scored two runs in the top of the first and never looked back in the 12-2 win. Ludwig's two home runs helped him go 4-for-5 at the plate with five RBIs. Neary (4-5) picked up the win with the complete game. In the first game of a March 24 doubleheader, Sadowski (3-4) pitched his gem en route to the 4-0 win. Steve Johnson (Appleton, Wis.-East) went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, including his first home run of the season. In the nightcap, Mike Oiler (Watertown, Wis.-Watertown) allowed six runs in the first three innings as the Raiders won, 6-1. On March 25, Corey Clemmons (Pardeeville, Wis.-Portage) pitched seven innings and allowed a pair of earned runs, leading the Panthers to a 13-5 win. Tylke went 5-for-5 at the plate, including a big three-run double in the sixth inning. Todd Grafenauer (Mukwonago, Wis.-Mukwonago) gave UWM the lead for good with a two-run single in the third inning.
On March 20, the Panthers lost at Indiana State 9-4. Five Sycamore runs were unearned in the game.
