MILWAUKEE - Eric Goerdt hit two home runs and Mike Oiler allowed just three hits in seven innings as UWM completed a four-game sweep of Cleveland State with an 8-2 win Sunday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.

The win pushed the Panthers to 8-0 in Midwestern Collegiate Conference play, extending a school-record for the best start in conference play.

UWM (20-11, 8-0) scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed. Goerdt's first home run, a solo shot in the third, gave UWM a 3-1 advantage, and his two-run home run in the seventh closed out the scoring for the Panthers.

Darin Haugom went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Goerdt and Matt Houk added two hits apiece.

Oiler (4-5) allowed just two runs while striking out five. Matt Freisleben and Jason Crawford each pitched an inning of scoreless relief for UWM.

The Panthers wrap-up their seven-game homestand Monday afternoon, hosting Lakeland College in a doubleheader. The first game begins at 3 p.m.
