DETROIT, Mich. - UWM's offense exploded for 27 runs while sweeping a doubleheader from Detroit Sunday afternoon. The Panthers won game one 14-11 before claiming the nightcap, 13-1.

In game one, the Panthers (13-8, 4-0 MCC) scored four times in the top of the eighth inning to claim the victory. Detroit had rallied with three home runs, including a game-tying three-run blast, in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

UWM had built a 10-5 advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh, but the Titans rallied iwth five runs off of relievers Dave Pudlosky and Jason Crawford. Crawford (2-0) did earn the win in the eight, and Aaron Bushong recorded the final two outs for his first career save.

Scott Gillitzer had three hits and drove in five runs to lead the Panthers, who hit three home runs in the game. The Titans (2-22, 0-4 MCC) hit five home runs in the contest, which lasted three hours and 18 minutes.

In game two, UWM exploded for seven runs in the first inning and added a total of five more in second and third innings to seal the win. Mike Oiler (3-4) gave up just one run on four hits in six innings of work to claim the win. Oiler also drove in three runs, while Eric Goerdt and Jason Crawford drove in two runs apiece.

The Panthers will carry a four-game winning streak into their home opener Wednesday against Wisconsin-Parkside. Game one of the doubleheader begins at 4 p.m.
