DEKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois scored four times in the bottom of the ninth inning to down UWM 9-8 Tuesday afternoon.

The Panthers (9-8) had scored once in the seventh inning and two more times in the ninth to build an 8-5 advantage. But, Trevor Stocking's RBI single off Mike Oiler in the bottom of the ninth won the game for the Huskies (11-14).

Oiler (2-3) took the loss for the Panthers after not retiring a batter in the ninth. Eric Goerdt pitched the first three innings, allowing only three hits, while Aaron Bushong pitched the middle three innings, allowing five runs, two earned.

UWM built a 5-0 advantage after the first three innings, but NIU rallied to score one in the fourth and four more in the sixth to tie the game.

Scott Gillitzer hit his second home run of the season for the Panthers.

UWM opens conference play this weekend, playing at Detroit in doubleheaders both Saturday and Sunday.
