South Bend, Ind.- The UWM baseball team could not hold a late 6-4 lead against Notre Dame and fell to the Irish, 7-6, on Tuesday. Junior Andy Neary (1-5) pitched into the ninth inning and allowed six earned runs, while striking out six batters and walking only one. Junior first baseman Chad Sadowski hit his seventh home run of the season in the seventh inning, giving the Panthers a 5-4 lead. The Panthers added an insurance run in the eighth when sophomore shortstop Mike Oiler singled, took second on an errant pick-off throw, third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on sophomore center fielder Darrin Haugom's RBI single. But the Irish answered with one run in the eighth and two in the ninth for the win. The Panthers play a doubleheader at Northern Illinois (2-13) on Thursday and play host to UW-La Crosse on Wednesday.
