UWM Women Finish 13th at Pre-NCAAs

Hurst turns in the Panthers' top finish.

BLOOMINGTON,Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women’s cross country team finished 13th overall at today’s Pre-NCAA Invitational, Race B, with 302 points. Top finisher was Western Kentucky with 117 points. The Panthers topped fellow MCC school Butler, who finished in 17th place with 402 points. This is the first time the Panthers have qualified for this meet in school history.

Individually, the young Panther squad fared well competing against the nation’s premier college runners, with top finisher freshman Abby Hurst finishing in 61st place overall in 19:30 on the 5,000-meter course in the field of 173 runners. Sophomore Ann Lewis was close behind in 71st place (19:40), followed in 83rd by sophomore Brianne Peterson (19:50), in 88th by sophomore Tricia Pozel (20:00) and in 119th by Leah VanRoy (20:20).
