Hurst, Hill Strong Again
Panther women seventh, men 10th at Notre Dame Invitational

MILWAUKEE - Abby Hurst and Cornelius Hill continued their successful seasons with strong showings Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational. Hurst finished the Gold race at the Notre Dame Invitational in fifth place overall, but took the third team placing. Hurst's time of 18:25 was her best time at 5K on the season. Hurst was followed across the finish line by freshman Christine Wampach and sophomore Katie Olander. Wampach finished 37th overall, finishing a minute behind Hurst. Olander was the next runner to finish, crossing the line in 38th place in 19:27. Junior Leah Van Roy was the fourth Panther finisher, ending her race in 19:33 and in 43rd place. The Panther counters were finished up by junior Brianne Peterson, who finished 52nd overall with a time of 19:43. On the men's side, Hill, a senior, took home third place in the 8K race. Hill's time of 25:08 was the top time on the men's side at 8K in 2001. Fellow senior Pat Harrington was the next UWM finisher, placing 18th overall in 25:35. He was followed by freshman Steve Saul, who came in 71st place with a time of 26:28, his best time on the 2001 campaign. Rounding out the Panther counters were junior Jeremy Dunn and sophomore Andy Kivioja. Dunn placed 87th overall in 26:51, while Kivioja placed 91st with a time of 26:53. The men's team placed 10th overall in the Gold race. Both teams will be back in action on Sat., Oct. 13, as they take part in the Parkside Invitational, hosted by UW-Parkside.
