The Panthers look to repeat this year winning consecutive men's & women's MCC Outdoor Championships. April 29, 1999 MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams travel to Indianapolis, Ind., this weekend to defend their titles at the 1999 MCC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The event, scheduled for Sunday, May 2, will be hosted by Butler University and held at the Indiana University Michael A. Carroll Stadium, located in downtown Indianapolis. Competing for both the men's and women's team titles will be Butler, Detroit, Loyola and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The field events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. (EST), while the running events are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. (EST). At last years inaugural Championships, the Panther women edged host Butler by one point to capture the MCC title, while the Panther men grabbed the title finishing 60 points ahead of second-place Detroit. Earlier this season at the MCC Indoor Championships, the Panther men took its third consecutive team title while the women finished in second behind Detroit. The Panthers also look to defend several individual championships this year. On the women's side, Julie Metrish will look to repeat in the javelin, while Emily Hauer will look for a second consecutive 10,000m crown and Andrea Thibaudeau looks to repeat in the long jump. The women's 4x400 relay will also go for its second consecutive win this weekend. Both Hauer and Thibaudeau hold the MCCs top time/score in their respective events so far this year. On the men's side, Paul McGinley looks for a repeat in both the javelin and long jump, while Scott Banaszak looks for another crown in the pole vault. The mens 4x400 relay also looks to repeat this year. McGinley enters the meet with the MCCs top score so far this year in the javelin and Banaszak hold the best score to date in the pole vault.
