UWM Swimmers Win Three Dual Meets at Wheaton

Clark wins 200th dual meet of his career

Wheaton, Ill. - The UWM swimming and diving team took three of four dual meets as both the men and the women swam against UIC and Wheaton on Nov. 6.

The UWM men defeated Wheaton, 150-86, and UIC, 136-104. The Panther women downed UIC, 177-63, but fell to Wheaton, 134-102.

The victories bring UWM coach Dave Clark to 202 career dual-meet wins over his career.

The men’s squad recorded seven first-place finishes, and was led by Matt Schmaling (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) and Todd Hill (West Bend, Wis./East), who both won two events.

Schmaling, a freshman, won the 50 free and the 100 free. He also swam the anchor leg on the 400 free relay that took first place.

Hill, the reigning MCC Diver of the Year, swept the two diving events.

On the women’s side, freshman diver Krystina Herzog (Racine, Wis./Horlick) recorded a first-place finish, as she won the one-meter diving event.

UWM will play host to Butler and Northern Iowa on Friday. The meet begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Klotsche Center.
