UWM Men's and Women's Swimming Named Academic All-American
Women honored for 24th consecutive semester
Aug. 8, 2000 Milwaukee - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team has been named Academic All-American for the 24th consecutive semester, the College Swim Coaches Association of America has announced. The men's team was also honored with Academic All-American honors. The women's team accumulated a 3.373 grade point average on a four-point scale last semester, the eighth-best mark in NCAA Division I. UWM ranked ahead of some nationally known institutions such as Purdue (3.37) Princeton (3.35) and Yale (3.12). The men ranked 24th in the nation with a GPA of 2.896, ahead of such programs as North Carolina (2.895), Michigan State (2.892) and Indiana (2.82). "It is great to be honored again by the CSCAA as an Academic All America program," said UWM coach Dave Clark. "Consistently competing with the best student-athletes at the top universities in the country really shows the focus in our program." |
