Freshmen Peter Clark, David Faust, Matt Schmaling and Rachel Smith all earn the NISCA Honor July 26, 1999 MILWAUKEE - Four UWM swimming recruits have been named to the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association All-America team. The top 40 public high school times were given the All-America distinction. The next 20 times qualify for All-America Honorable Mention status. Peter Clark (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) earned All-America honors in the 200 free and the 400 free relay and All-America Honorable Mention in the 200 medley relay. David Faust (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) earned All-America Honorable Mention honors in the 200 free relay. Matt Schmaling (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) earned All-America Honorable Mention in the 50 free and the 100 fly. Rachel Smith (Superior, Wis./Superior) was named All-America Academic. Qualifications for this honor include being a state finalist and having at least a 3.75 GPA. "I think the program has changed considerably for the better in the last few years," said UWM coach Dave Clark. "I hope we can keep it going in this direction."
