Nine Athletes Named Academic All-League
Leslie Brock and Adam Hanson earn third consecutive honor
April 26, 2002 MILWAUKEE - Nine student-athletes were named to the Horizon League's Academic All-League team, the league office announced today. Of the honorees, seniors Leslie Brock and Adam Hanson were named for the third consecutive year. For the women's team, Brock was one of three seniors to be honored by the league. She joins fellow classmates Kelly Goetsch and Erin McCauley on the team. Goetsch was previously honored by the league in the 2000-01 season, while McCauley was named to the team in the 1999-2000 season. Other honorees on the women's team include juniors Rachel Smith and Beth Watt and sophomore Sarah Caldwell. This is the first time any of the three have earned the honor. The men's team had three student-athletes named to the league team. Along with Hanson, junior Peter Clark and sophomore Josh Baseheart were honored. Clark was also honored a year ago, while Baseheart was named in his first year of eligibility for the award. To be named to the Horizon League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a grade-point average of at least 3.25 on a 4.00 scale, completed three semesters at the school and be a starter or important reserve. UWM led the way among all sports with 16 named to league teams. Of those 16, nine came from the UWM Swimming and Diving program. In addition, both teams were named as All-American by the College Swim Coaches Association of America after the fall semester. For the women's team, it was the 26th-consecutive semester earning the award. |
