Women's Swim Team Signs Three
Three in-state athletes to compete for UWM
April 24, 2002 MILWAUKEE - The UWM swimming and diving team has signed three student-athletes to compete for the UWM women's team next season, head coach Dave Clark announced today. Erin Blemberg from Appleton, Wis., Emily Holcomb of Verona, Wis., and Nicole Rosinski of Janesville, Wis., have all signed National Letters of Intent to swim at UWM next year. Blemberg, from Appleton East High School, is the reigning state Division I champion in diving. She is also a YMCA National Finalist on both the 1m and 3m boards. "Erin is a very talented diver for a solid program," head coach Dave Clark said. "She will join two other Wisconsin High School Division I state champion divers on our team. Erin will help push our already-solid diving team to being even better." Holcomb, from Verona, Wis., was a member of the 1998 state championship team at Verona. She was also a member of three relay teams that earned All-American status in 1998 and 1999. "Emily is a winner from a winning program," Clark said. "She's a real leader, and she's popular with her peers, teachers and coaches. She will be a major factor in our team's success next season." Rosinski, from Milton High School, was a four-year state qualifier, finishing as high as third in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle at the state meet in 2001. "Nicole has just started to come to her potential," Clark said. "She has improved greatly in the past year as a student-athlete. She should be a major contributor to our relays and our program in general next season." The UWM women's swimming and diving team finished third at this year's Horizon League Championships, held Feb. 27-March 3 in Chicago. The women's team also excels in the classroom, having been named Academic All-America as a team by the College Swim Coaches of America Association for the 26th-consecutive semester. |
