Hill Named Diver of the Meet March 1, 1999 MILWAUKEE - After seven sessions of events spread over four days, the UWM men's and women's swimming and diving teams' seasons came to an end. Both teams finished third at the MCC Swimming and Diving Championships in Chicago on Feb. 24-27. Cleveland State's men and Wright State's women took home the MCC crowns. Todd Hill (West Bend, Wis.-East) claimed UWM's only first-place finish by winning the 3-meter diving event. He also took second from the 1-meter board. Hill's performances earned him MCC Men's Diver of the Meet honors. He will compete in the NCAA Zone C Diving Meet on Mar. 12-13 in Bloomington, Ind. The Panthers broke six records on the way to their third-place finishes. Kelly Goetsch (Plymouth, Wis.-Plymouth) broke the 200 freestyle record with a time of 1:55.98. The previous record was set in 1987 by Connie Wright. She also broke the 100 freestyle record during the preliminaries with a time of 53.51. Andrew Babcock (Verona, Wis.-Verona) topped his own 100 butterfly record with a time of 49.45. Other records that fell were the men's 200 medley relay, the women's 400 medley relay, and the women's 800 freestyle records. The Panther men end the season with a 7-4 dual-meet record, and the women were a 4-5. |
