Meet runs from Feb. 24 to Feb. 27 in Chicago. February 22, 1999
MILWAUKEE - The UWM men's and women's swimming and diving teams aim for what was nearly theirs last year - an MCC championship. Last season, the men finished second at the meet behind Cleveland State. The women took third last year behind UW-Green Bay and Wright State. This year's conference meet runs from Feb. 24 to Feb. 27 in Chicago. Six Panthers that will not be competing in the conference meet travelled to the Midwest Swimming Invitational at Wheaton Illinois on Feb. 19-20. The women took ninth, and one men's competitor recorded a team-finish of 18th. The women sent five swimmers to the meet. Jessica Hoffmann (New Berlin, Wis.-Eisenhower) took second in the 100 butterfly and sixth in the 200 IM. Claire Brock (Appleton, Wis.-North) finished sixth in the 500 freestyle. Allisa Gallaher (Peabody, Mass.-Memorial) placed eight in the 200 fly, and Joelle Conradt (Port Washington, Wis.-Port Washington) took 14th in the 100 breaststroke. Conradt, Hoffmann, and Gallaher teamed with Shannon Mortimer (Chilton, Wis.-Chilton) to take sixth in the 400 medley relay. Jason Kay (West Bend, Wis.-East), the men's only competitor, took 10th in the 100 breaststroke. |
