Milwaukee-- Despite having only five swimmers in attendance, the UWM women finished in sixth place out of seventeen teams at the Midwest Invitational over the weekend hosted by Wheaton College. The team collected 174 points at the meet.

The Panthers were paced by senior Claire Brock's (Appleton, Wis./North) team-best 104 points. Brock placed sixth in both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyles and placed 13th in the 100-yard free. Brock also swam a leg in the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays that both finished seventh.

Senior Alissa Gallaher (Peabody, Mass./Memorial) added fifth-place finishes in the 400-yard individual medley and the 200-yard butterfly.

The 400-yard relay team of Brock, Gallaher, freshman Michelle Honeyager (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth), and freshman Brittani Ebert (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) placed sixth overall. Gallaher, Brock, senior Shannon Mortimer (Chilton, Wis./Chilton) and Honeyager teamed up for a seventh place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The 200-yard medley relay team of Brock, Mortimer, Honeyager and Ebert took seventh as well.

The women, along with the UWM men's team are next in action February 23-26, 2000 in Cleveland for the MCC Championships.
