Milwaukee - Sophomore Josh Baseheart was named Horizon League Athlete of the Week for his performance last month at the Wheaton Invitational, the league office announced today.

Baseheart broke two invitational records, one pool record and one UWM record at the invitational on Dec. 7 and 8. In the 50 free, Baseheart set a new meet record by swimming in 20.82, good for 59th best in the nation in Division I. In the 100 free, he set a new pool and meet record, as well as breaking his own school record, by swimming 45.29. The time ranks him 46th in Division I.

This is the second time Baseheart has been honored by the league this year. He received the honor on Oct. 30 for his performances against Northwestern in a dual meet and at the Northwestern Relays. The league has not given the award since Dec. 4 due to there being a small number of competitions that were held over the holidays. Seniors Nic Seider and Kelly Goetsch have also been honored by the league this season.

Milwaukee returns to action on Saturday with a dual meet against Horizon League rival Butler at the Klotsche Center Pool. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
