Swim teams prep for MCC Championships, Feb. 24-27. February 15, 1999
MILWAUKEE - The UWM men's swimming and diving team ended its regular season on Friday, Feb. 12, with a loss to Notre Dame, 145.5-91.5. The Panthers ended their dual meet season with a 7-4 record, 3-0 in the MCC. Jared Sobczak (Menomonee Falls, Wis.-Menomonee Falls) scored the Panthers only first-place finish in the swimming events by winning the 200 breaststroke. He also finished second in the 50 freestyle. Todd Hill (West Bend, Wis.-East) won both diving events, scoring 282.75 in the 1-meter event and 231.6 from the 3-meter board. Hill's performance in the 1-meter event was his best output this season. Matt Gardner (Waukesha, Wis.-South) placed second in the 500 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle. Kevin Van Den Wymelenberg (Green Bay, Wis.-Preble) took second in the 100 freestyle. Andrew Babcock (Verona, Wis.-Verona) finished second in the 200 butterfly. Both the men and women next compete in the MCC Championships on Feb. 24-27 in Chicago. Last season, the men finished second at the meet behind Cleveland State. The women took third last year behind UW-Green Bay and Wright State. |
