MILWAUKEE - The UWM women's swimming and diving team took home the MCC Championship after posting 811.50 points Saturday night at the Schroeder Aquatic YMCA Center in Brown Deer. Milwaukee's men's team finished fourth in the conference after the three day competition. This is the first time UWM has hosted the MCC Championship meet.

UWM coach Dave Clark was named MCC Coach of the Year for the women's swimming and diving team.

Sophomore Amanda Chan smashed the MCC record in the women's 200-yard breaststroke, winning the event in 2:20.20. Chan was named the MCC Outstanding Swimmer following the three-day competition.

Saturday's events were also highlighted by a third-place finish in the 200 fly from sophomore Beth Watt. Watt finished with a time of 2:11.49. UWM's 400-yard free relay team also finished third, swimming in 3:36.08.

Finishing fourth in the MCC Championship with 574 points, the Panther men ended strong to cap off Saturday night's events.

UWM won the 400-yard free relay by a hair with a time of 3:03.39, beating Wright State by a half of a second.

Sophomore Peter Clark placed third in the 200 fly, finishing in 1:54.69

Wright State won the men's MCC Championship, posting 703 points. Green Bay came in second with 636 points, while Cleveland State finished just seven points ahead of UWM with 581 total points. UWM's women led the other competition by 62 points, as Wright State posted 749.50 points.
