Panther Swimmers Fall to In-State Rivals
Milwaukee drops two decisions to Badgers and Phoenix

MADISON, Wis. - The UWM swimming and diving teams dropped a pair of decisions Friday night at Madison, falling to Wisconsin and UW-Green Bay. The women fell to the Badgers, 177-63, and lost to UW-Green Bay by a 162-81 margin. The men lost 181-55 to Wisconsin, and fell, 138-103, to the Phoenix. Kristin Cefalu took the only first place finish not taken by the Badgers on the evening, winning the women's 200 breast. Cefalu took first in the event for the ninth time this season to finish the season undefeated in the event. Jen Kedinger took second in the women's 1000 free, while Josh Baseheart was second in the 100 free. Nic Seider also took second in both diving events, finishing behind Kevin Engholdt of Wisconsin in both events. Fellow senior Marco Gruchalski finished third behind Seider in both events. The men also took second place in the 400 free relay, with Baseheart edging out the anchor swimmer from UWGB. Several Panthers took third place on the day, finishing ahead of UW-Green Bay and behind the Badgers. Josh Baseheart claimed third in the 50 free, while David Faust was third in the 1000 free and Jason Procto was third in the 200 back. Kedinger added a third place in the women's 500 free. The Panthers finish up dual-meet action for the season with the men having a record of 3-6, while the women ended the season with the same mark. Both teams are off until the Horizon League Championships, to be held on Feb. 27-Mar. 2 on the campus of UIC. |
