UWGB grabs lead from Panther women, UWM men hold second place
Jan. 26, 2002 MILWAUKEE - Beth Watt and Jason Procto took the only two Panther wins in the morning session of the Bill Ritter Invitational Saturday. The UWM men held onto second place behind UWGB, while the Panther women slipped to second behind a hard-charging Phoenix women's team. Watt took first in the women's 100 butterfly, winning a close touch at the wall over Angie Rawlins of Illinois State. Watt touched in at 1:00.26, while Rawlins had a time of 1:00.31. It was the only victory on the women's side that was claimed by a team other than Green Bay. Jason Procto had the only win for the Panther men on the morning, taking first in the 100 backstroke. Procto was followed by five straight Phoenix swimmers, with Panther John Batty coming in seventh. Paul Torres of UIC in the 400 IM had the only other first-place finish not taken by UWGB. Action concludes with the third and final session this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Klotsche Center Pool. |
