Milwaukee - The UWM swimming teams competed in the Ed Kennedy Relays on Dec. 31 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., with the women's team taking third out of six teams and the men finishing fourth of five teams.

The only first place finish of the meet came from the women's 150 meter breaststroke relay team of Amanda Chan, Kristin Cefalu and Rachel Smith. The trio swam the long course in 1:54.08, finishing nearly two seconds ahead of second-place Towson University.

The women's 200 meter medley relay team grabbed second place, falling only to Miami University. The team of Julie Olson, Kristin Cefalu, Beth Watt and Jenny Behr completed the course in 2:11.56.

David Faust had the top individual finish on the men's side, taking fourth place in the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 2:04.27.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they compete in the Time Trial 100s in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. UWM's next home meet is against Butler on Jan. 19 at the Klotsche Center Pool. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
