Panther Basketball On WISN
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball games are heard on NewsTalk 1130 WISN. UWM Athletics and Clear Channel signed a five-year agreement prior to the start of the 2006-07 basketball season, with games airing on WOKY for the fourth-straight year. But, the agreement set in motion a plan to move the games to WISN in time for the 2007-08 campaign. Thanks to the agreement, WISN is the home for the weekly "Rob Jeter on Basketball" show as well as other special Panther features, with the move greatly enhancing the visibility and reach of all UWM men's basketball radio programming. The continuing agreement also provides for an extensive promotional profile for UWM Athletics, including recorded promotional announcements on WISN, WOKY and Clear Channel's group of FM radio stations. Plus, the Milwaukee basketball postgame show will air live from Major Goolsby's after every Panther home game. "This is certainly another step forward for our athletic department and our basketball program," UWM Director of Athletics Bud Haidet said. "We continuously strive to use all available resources in marketing our product to new audiences and in making more people aware of Panther basketball. There is little question the presence of our games on WISN will serve our fans well, while also providing us with a large group of potential Panther fans and customers. We're very pleased with what we think is a major leap forward for Panther athletics." News/Talk 1130 WISN boasts a 50,000-watt signal during the day and a 10,000-watt signal at night. Plus, WISN was fourth of 28 rated stations during the last ratings sample of the Milwaukee market and features well-known national hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. The station also features extensive local talk programming, including Jay Weber (6-10 am), Vicki McKenna (10 am-noon) and Mark Belling (3-6 pm). "We couldn't be happier to have the UWM Panthers as part of the `ISN family," WISN Program Director Jerry Bott said. "The Panthers have become such an important piece of the local sports landscape and we certainly believe they are a great addition to our lineup of programming on WISN. We look forward to continuing the great relationship between Clear Channel and UWM Athletics." Rob Jeter On Basketball - Show airs 6-7 p.m. on WISN
